Recurring collections that don't bounce, churn or charge back.
Pull subscriptions, instalments and bills directly from customers' bank accounts. Lower fees than cards, no chargebacks, bank linking in under 2 minutes — built and run for you.
Cards were never built for recurring revenue
Cards expire, decline and charge back — and every failed renewal is involuntary churn. eGIRO pulls straight from the customer's bank account, under a mandate they approve once at their own bank.
No chargebacks
Customers approve a mandate at their own bank. No card network, no chargeback flow.
Lower MDR than cards
Collections run on bank rails, not card networks.
Bank linking in under 2 minutes
Customers log in to their own bank and approve once.
Done for you, live in 4–6 weeks
We handle ABS onboarding, keys, certificates and testing with each bank.

Insurance
Monthly and annual premiums, collected from the bank account.
Utilities & telcos
Variable monthly bills under one mandate.

A note on scope: merchants use eGIRO to collect (direct debit). Outbound eGIRO payouts (direct credit) are bank-only under the scheme rules, so merchant use cases centre on collections.

FAQ
How is an eGIRO mandate better than keeping a card on file?
A card on file can expire, be declined by limits or fraud rules, or be charged back, and each failed renewal risks losing the customer. An eGIRO mandate debits the customer's bank account directly, so there's no card to expire and no chargeback flow. The customer approves it once at their own bank and sets a deduction limit, and you collect within that limit for as long as the mandate stays active.
What does a customer have to do to set up eGIRO?
They choose their bank on your hosted page or in your own app, log in to their bank with its usual login and 2FA, set a deduction limit and approve. It takes minutes, compared with around three weeks for a paper GIRO form. If they don't finish within 20 minutes, the request lapses and they simply start again. Joint accounts can't be set up online, so those customers still need a paper GIRO form.
Why does eGIRO cost less than card payments?
Card payments carry a merchant discount rate (MDR): a percentage of every payment, shared between the card issuer, the card network and the acquirer. eGIRO debits move bank to bank, with no card network in the middle and no chargebacks to dispute. Acme itself doesn't take a percentage of what you collect: you pay for the connection, not the volume, so the saving grows with your collections.
Can customers change or cancel their eGIRO mandate?
Yes. The customer controls the mandate: its deduction limit, its expiry and whether it stays active. The best way is to let customers cancel in your own app, which cancels the mandate through Acme's API; once the bank confirms, the mandate's status changes and Acme notifies you by webhook. If a customer cancels directly at their bank instead, the bank doesn't tell Acme, so ask customers to cancel through you.
Which banks can our customers pay from?
Customers can link accounts at 11 payer banks: Bank of China, CIMB, Citibank, DBS, HSBC, ICBC, MariBank, Maybank, OCBC, Standard Chartered and UOB. Citibank, HSBC and Standard Chartered support retail accounts only. If you collect from businesses, we'll confirm which banks support corporate payers. Banks join the scheme over time, and our API returns each bank's current availability for retail and corporate payers.
How long until we can start collecting?
Typically 4–6 weeks. You'll need to be registered as a billing organisation with your own bank, and we guide you through that application. We handle the ABS onboarding, keys, certificates and testing with each payer bank. Launch on a hosted eGIRO page with your logo, or call our API from your own checkout. On-demand debits over FAST settle within seconds; scheduled GIRO batch debits settle the next business day (T+1).
